Everyone knows that IKEA sofas are cheap and built for short-term use. So why are there so many IKEA sofas still in use after 8 – 10 years? Why do much more expensive sofas often fail far sooner?

Pilling is a characteristic of some fabrics when new. Pilling has nothing to do with fabric durability or quality. It is not considered a fabric defect and is specifically excluded from coverage in most furniture warranties.
Marshfield is above average quality for mid-range furniture. With average use by average size people, Marshfield sofas should hold up for 8 -10+ years. Smith Brothers is at the top of mid-quality. Their sofas should have a 15+ year lifespan.
