Is it Possible to Use Plywood to Firm Soft Innerspring Mattress?

By Jeff Frank

Question:

Can I use plywood to firm my soft innerspring mattress? If yes, how do I do it?

Answer:

If you use your mattress on a platform bed or lay it directly on the floor, it is virtually the same as using a sheet of plywood.

Also, most of the foundations found in mattress sets today are nothing more than plywood boxes with a small amount of foam padding on top.

Basically, most mattresses are already resting on plywood or something similar. The mattresses are usually thick enough so that you don’t feel the plywood base.

If your current mattress is uncomfortable or causing pain, it is time to shop for a new mattress.
