Is Reupholstering a 35 year old Flexsteel sofa a Good Idea?

By Jeff Frank

Question:

Would you recommend reupholstering a 35 year old Flexsteel sofa in excellent condition?

 Answer:

35 year old Flexsteel sofas were better made than the new ones (and they were all made in the USA.) If you still like your Flexsteel sofa, reupholstering is a good option for you.

If you are thinking of reupholstering, you will probably be replacing the cushions.

Make sure you get either 2.5 density foam or preferably Spring down cushions. The standard 1.8 density foam, used in most sofas currently, lasts only 3 – 5 years.
